The Oxnard Police Department reported that a vehicle traveling westbound on Wooley Road hit Gomes Soriano as he attempted to walk across the roadway.

Oxnard, CA – The pedestrian who was hit and killed by a vehicle in Oxnard last week on Friday has been identified.
According to the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office, Jesus Gomez Soriano, 50, of Oxnard, died following the collision that happened at around 11:30 p.m. May 2, on Wooley Road, just west of Commercial Avenue
The Oxnard Police Department reported that a vehicle traveling westbound on Wooley Road hit Gomes Soriano as he attempted to walk across the roadway.
Gomes Soriano was not walking in a crosswalk and was thrown into the eastbound lanes of Wooley Road by the impact of the crash.
Police and emergency crews found Gomes Soriano lying in the roadway and pronounced him deceased at the scene.
The driver of the SUV, only identified as a 21-year-old Oxnard man, remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. Reports indicate that the driver was not suspected to have been impaired but was cited for unspecified infractions.
