Ludlow, CA – The California Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly big rig accident that claimed the lives of two people on Wednesday morning in Ludlow in San Bernardino County.

The wreck happened at around 7 a.m. on May 6, on Interstate 40, east of Crucero Road.

Preliminary reports indicate that a woman was driving a tractor-trailer eastbound on I-40 when, for unknown reasons, she failed to stop for vehicles stopped ahead. This triggered a chain-reaction collision involving three tractor-trailer combination vehicles.

Both the woman and a male passenger in her big rig were declared dead at the scene by the responding emergency crews. Their identities were not immediately released.

There were no injuries reported by other individuals involved in the collision.

Authorities did not specify whether speed or impairment played any role in the accident.
