Escondido, CA – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident that took place at an alley in Escondido on Tuesday afternoon, the Escondido Police Department reported.
The accident happened near Broadway and Washington Avenue at about 4:50 p.m. on May 5.
Investigations revealed that a 56-year-old man was lying in front of a delivery truck when the driver moved forward and ran him over. The driver was unable to see the victim just prior to hitting him.
According to Escondido police, the pedestrian was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared deceased. His identity was not immediately released but authorities believe he was homeless.
The driver was at the scene of the accident and cooperated with law enforcement. Impairment was not suspected to have been a factor in the accident.
