Walnut Creek, CA. – 42-year-old Shanell Smith has been identified as the woman who died in a car crash on Friday night in Walnut Creek.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Interstate Highway 680 near Treat Boulevard at around 11:30 p.m.
A wrong-way driver was traveling south in the northbound lanes when it collided with six other vehicles.
Smith was a passenger in one of the northbound vehicles and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Four other people, including the wrong-way driver, suffered major injuries and three sustained minor injuries.
The wrong-way driver was determined to have been impaired and was arrested.
More details about the accident were not released.
