King City, CA – One person was killed in a head-on crash on Metz Road in King City Friday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal collision occurred on Metz Road just north of Spreckels Road at approximately 5:32 p.m. on April 24, 2026.
According to CHP, a 32-year-old man from King City was driving a 2014 Ford Fusion southbound on Metz Road when, for unknown reasons, he swerved into the northbound lane. A 50-year-old man from King City was driving a 2012 Dodge Ram northbound and attempted to avoid the crash by swerving left. At the same time, the Ford corrected back to the right, and the two vehicles collided head-on.
The driver of the Ford Fusion was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the deceased was not immediately released pending family notification. The driver of the Dodge Ram was not injured. No arrests have been reported.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and worked to extinguish flames from the vehicles, which were reported to have caught fire following the collision.
The crash resulted in road closures along Metz Road as authorities conducted their on-scene investigation and cleared the wreckage.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and it is not yet known whether alcohol or drugs were factors.
