Initial reports indicate that two cars collided at the intersection and the impact caused a black sedan to strike a pole at the side of the intersection

Boyle Heights, CA – One person died after two vehicles collided and one of them slammed into a pole in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles early Friday morning.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the incident was reported at around 5:44 a.m. April 24, on East 4th Street and South Clarence Street.
Initial reports indicate that two cars collided at the intersection and the impact caused a black sedan to strike a pole at the side of the intersection. The circumstances under which the vehicles collided were not immediately established.
LAFD crews arrived at the scene within minutes and a person was extricated from one of the involved vehicles.
The extricated party was confirmed deceased at the scene. The identity of the deceased person is yet to be released.
One other party was evaluated by the medics but declined to be transported to a hospital.
It’s unclear whether alcohol or drugs played any role in the collision.
No further details were available. Authorities are currently looking into the evidence and information collected at the scene as they work to ascertain the cause of the accident.
