Anaheim, CA – One person is dead following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 55 in Anaheim early Saturday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly wreck, which happened on northbound State Route 55 just south of CA-91, was reported at about 12:23 a.m.
Preliminary reports indicate that two vehicles were involved in the crash. One of the vehicles came to rest, blocking the HOV and No. 1 lanes. A woman was ejected from one of the vehicles and was found lying on the roadway following the collision.
Authorities confirmed that a woman was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 12:54 a.m. The identity of the victim has not yet been released. No other injuries or arrests have been reported.
CHP officers and emergency crews responded to the scene, and the coroner was requested following confirmation of the fatality.
The crash prompted a SigAlert and a hard closure of northbound CA-55, with all traffic diverted off at Lincoln Avenue, causing significant delays in the area.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
