Pacific Palisades, CA – A man was hospitalized with major injuries after a trench collapsed at a construction site in Pacific Palisades on Thursday afternoon, according to the authorities.
At about 1:48 p.m. April 16, the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the site of the incident in the 15400 block of W Via De Las Olas.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a man in a collapsed trench who needed to be rescued. It’s unclear what led up to the collapse.
After being pulled out, the man was given life-saving measures by medics at the scene before being rushed to a trauma center for further treatment. The man, only identified as a 28-year-old, was transported with critical injuries, according to the LAFD report.
The LAFD urban search-and-rescue specialists performed an extensive search and determined that no one else was in the collapsed trench.
Authorities notified the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health officials, who are conducting an investigation to establish what led up the incident.
