Ventura, CA – A construction worker was injured after being pinned while offloading a piece of equipment along Highway 101 near Ventura on Thursday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident was reported at about 3 p.m. April 16, on the southbound side of the highway near Emma Wood State Beach.

Investigations revealed that the worker was trying to offload an excavator from a trailer on the shoulder of the highway when the the excavator rolled onto its side and pinned the worker.

Bystanders attempted to free the worker before CHP and emergency crews arrived at the scene.

The worker was eventually freed and was rushed to a hospital for treatment. The victim’s identity and extent of injuries sustained were not immediately released.

No additional details on the incident were available. Authorities are conducting an investigation into the accident.
