Rancho Cordova, CA – A collision between a vehicle and a light rail train in Rancho Cordova left three people injured on Thursday, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District reported.

The wreck occurred near Folsom Boulevard and Mills Park Drive on Thursday, April 16.

Authorities reported that a vehicle went around the crossing arms and ended up on the tracks, where it was hit by a light rail train. It’s unclear why the vehicle’s driver went around the crossing arms.

Paramedics with the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded to the scene and attended to three people riding in the involved vehicle.

The patients were transported to a hospital and at least one of them was in critical condition. The occupants of the train were uninjured in the incident.

Whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident was not specified and no arrests were immediately reported.

The Rancho Cordova Police Department is currently conducting an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
