Update: 2 Killed, 2 Injured in Car Crash on State Route 14 and State Route 58

2 Killed in Highway 14 Crash in Mojave

Mojave, CA – A driver and a passenger died, and two others were hospitalized after two vehicles collided Monday afternoon in Mojave, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officers responded to the area of State Route 14 and State Route 58 after they were notified about a collision around 5:07 p.m. on April 14.

The officers found a gray Toyota Corolla and a white Buick Encore involved in the crash.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a man was driving the Toyota from SR-58 to the Exit 167 off-ramp. At the same time, the Buick was traveling southbound on SR-14, approaching SR-58 Exit 67.

Authorities said the man driving the Corolla crossed the southbound lanes and tried to merge onto the northbound SR-14 when the front of the Buick hit the left side of the Corolla.

The crash left the driver of the Corolla and his left rear passenger dead.

The driver of the Buick and the front right passenger in the Corolla were hospitalized in unknown condition.

Mojave, CA – One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash on State Route 14 in Mojave late Monday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred on State Route 14 at Exit 167 along SR-58 at approximately 5:07 p.m.

CHP officials said the deadly collision involved two vehicles that were merging in the area. Preliminary investigation revealed that a white Mazda was traveling southbound when it T-boned a Toyota Corolla that was exiting from the off-ramp.

One male occupant was found unconscious at the scene and was later confirmed dead. No additional information regarding other injuries or possible arrests has been released.

Emergency responders, including Kern County Fire Department personnel and CHP officers, responded to the scene. Authorities also requested lane closures to manage the situation and ensure safety.

The crash caused traffic delays in the area surrounding the SR-14 and SR-58 interchange as crews worked to clear the wreckage.

The incident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
