Calistoga, CA – At least one person suffered major injuries following a head-on collision Monday night on State Route 29 in Calistoga, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported at approximately 8:29 p.m. on May 25 on northbound SR-29 just north of Old Lawley Toll Road.
CHP dispatch logs indicate that a black pickup truck and a white sedan collided head-on. Responding crews located the vehicles blocking the highway in both directions, and one of them was emitting smoke following the collision.
Cal Fire personnel confirmed that three people were injured in the crash. One of the patients sustained major injuries and was airlifted from the scene by a REACH air ambulance to the hospital.
Tow trucks were requested to remove both wrecked vehicles from the roadway.
The highway remained fully closed for more than an hour before reopening later in the evening.
