Deputies reported that a pedestrian was hit by a Pacific Surfliner train on the tracks near the South Coast Highway 101

Encinitas, CA – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a train near an intersection in Encinitas on Thursday afternoon, according to a report by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
The incident was reported just after 7 p.m. on May 21, in the area near D and S streets.
Deputies reported that a pedestrian was hit by a Pacific Surfliner train on the tracks near the South Coast Highway 101.
The circumstances under which the pedestrian was struck were still under investigation.
Authorities responded to the scene and blocked the intersection, where the train stopped after hitting the victim.
The pedestrian, whose identity was not immediately released, was declared deceased at the scene.
No other injuries were reported in the incident.
Breeze bus provided transport for affected passengers to nearby Coaster stations.
