Lancaster, CA – Authorities have released the identity of the pedestrian who was hit and killed by a vehicle in Lancaster last week on Wednesday.
According to the city Medical Examiner’s Office, William Edwards, 61, was the victim of the collision that happened at around 9:50 p.m. May 13, on Sierra Highway and Avenue J-8.
Investigators reported that Edwards was walking eastbound across Sierra Highway, just south of Avenue J-8, when he was hit by a southbound black SUV. Authorities reported that Edwards was not walking in a crosswalk when the collision occurred.
Edwards was transported to Antelope Valley Medical Center, where he was later declared deceased.
The woman driving the SUV remained at the scene after the accident and cooperated with the investigators.
Authorities did not specify whether impairment or speed played any role in the accident. There were no reports of any arrests in connection with the incident.
The incident remained under investigation by the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station.
