Carlos Sandoval, 31, of Selma, died following the incident that happened at around 2:25 a.m. May 17, on Highway 41 near Highway 180.

Fresno, CA – The man who was killed in a car accident that happened in Fresno early Sunday morning has been identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.
Carlos Sandoval, 31, of Selma, died following the incident that happened at around 2:25 a.m. May 17, on Highway 41 near Highway 180.
Preliminary reports by the California Highway Patrol indicate that Sandoval was driving a Toyota Camry southbound on Highway 41 when he stopped in the No. 2 lane and was rear-ended by a southbound Kia Optima. It’s unclear why Sandoval stopped in the roadway.
Due to the impact of the accident, both vehicles spun out of control and came to a rest in the traffic lanes.
Sandoval was taken to a hospital, where was later declared deceased.
A 3-year-old boy in the Kia was not properly restrained and was transported to a hospital with critical injuries.
According to CHP, the driver of the Toyota was suspected to have been impaired but the toxicology results were pending.
No further details on the accident were immediately available. An investigation to establish the exact circumstances of the crash is ongoing.
