Investigations reveal that a pickup truck and a big rig collided in the eastbound lanes of the freeway and the impact caused the big rig to overturn

Barstow, CA – One person was airlifted after being involved in a car accident on the 40 Freeway in the Barstow area early Thursday morning.
According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, the incident transpired at about 3:45 a.m. April 9, east of Hector Road.
Investigations reveal that a pickup truck and a big rig collided in the eastbound lanes of the freeway and the impact caused the big rig to overturn.
The pickup truck was badly damaged in the accident and the driver was pinned in the wreckage.
Firefighters arrived shortly after and worked to free the man from the pickup truck. The driver was then flown to a hospital with unknown injuries.
There was no update on the condition of the big rig driver and neither driver was identified in the CHP report.
All lanes of the 40 Freeway were shut down as emergency crews performed rescue operations and CHP investigated the incident.
