Napa, CA – The authorities are investigating a deadly pedestrian accident that occurred on Highway 29 in Napa on Tuesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

According to CHP, a Peterbilt semi-truck was traveling southbound on Hwy. 29 when it struck a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, described by authorities as a male in his late 20s or 30s, was reportedly in the middle of the traffic lane at the time of the impact.
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities noted that the semi-truck involved pulled over onto the right-hand shoulder following the collision.
There were also reports that the individual involved may have been observed in the area or attempted a similar action the previous night. No arrests have been reported at this time.
The California Highway Patrol, Cal Fire, and the Napa County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
A SigAlert was issued at approximately 12:42 p.m. as both southbound lanes were shut down to facilitate the investigation.
The crash significantly impacted the area, causing heavy traffic delays. Caltrans assisted with a hard closure of the roadway for approximately two hours before all lanes were reopened at 2:21 p.m.
The incident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
