Long Beach, CA – The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified the pedestrian who was fatally struck by a vehicle Saturday evening in Long Beach as 67-year-old Darryl Roundtree.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, the incident took place around 7:55 p.m., April 4, at Pacific Place and West Wardlow Road.

Police officers and other emergency personnel responded to the scene after receiving reports of the crash and found Roundtree lying in the roadway.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was walking in the roadway when he was struck by a 2025 Subaru Crosstrek SUV traveling southbound on Pacific Place in the No. 1 lane.

Roundtree was walking outside of a marked crosswalk at the time of the accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV stopped and cooperated with authorities.

Investigators ruled out speed, distracted driving, and impairment as contributing factors.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, the accident took place just before 7:55 p.m. April 5, on Pacific Place and West Wardlow Road.

Investigations reveal that a 2025 Subaru Crosstrek was traveling southbound on Pacific Place when it struck a pedestrian walking in the roadway. The victim was walking outside of the crosswalk when the accident occurred.

The pedestrian was declared deceased at the scene by the paramedics who responded to the incident. The victim’s identity was not immediately released.

According to the Long Beach police, the involved driver was at the scene when the authorities arrived. The driver cooperated with the investigators and was not arrested.

Speed, impairment, and distracted driving were not suspected to have played a role in the accident, investigators reported.
