Los Angeles, CA – Authorities have released the identities of two people killed in a collision in Sunland on Friday night.

Wern Saetern, 25, and Alejandra Simental, 23, were the victims of the incident that took place at around 9:52 p.m. April 3, on the Foothill (210) Freeway east of Sunland Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Investigations revealed that a Freightliner truck tractor was traveling east on the 210 Freeway when it slammed into a Honda Accord parked along the right shoulder of the highway.

Both occupants of the Honda were trapped in the vehicle after the crash. The two, identified as Saetern and Simental, were both pronounced deceased at the scene.

The operator of the big rig, Hardev Singh, of Manteca, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.

It’s unclear whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the accident and no arrests were announced.

At least two lanes were shut down as authorities examined and cleared the scene. All lanes were reopened by 5:30 a.m. Saturday.
