Fresno County, CA – A man was transported to a hospital after being struck by a vehicle while riding on a quad in Fresno County on Wednesday evening.
According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, the accident took place at about 6 p.m. April 1, on Anchor and Floral avenues.
A quad rider was reportedly heading north on Anchor Avenue when, for unknown reasons, he moved into the northbound side and crashed with an oncoming Toyota pickup truck. The Toyota driver attempted to brake to avoid the quad but was unsuccessful and the two crashed.
CHP reported that the quad rider sustained major injuries and was flown to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment. He was only identified as a 20-year-old man.
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs was suspected in the incident and the operator of the pickup truck, who was not immediately identified, was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
Authorities have not released additional details on the incident at this time. The crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
