San Diego, CA – A man was fatally injured after being struck by a sedan while standing in a lane of traffic in San Diego early Thursday morning, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the deceased as 30-year-old Charles Anthony Welcome.
The fatal collision occurred in the 4300 block of West Point Loma Boulevard at approximately 2:07 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2026.
According to preliminary investigation findings, Mr. Welcome was standing in a lane of traffic for unknown reasons when a sedan traveling along the roadway struck him.
San Diego Police and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the scene immediately following 911 calls. Responding paramedics contacted Welcome but found him unresponsive; he was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:07 a.m. due to multiple blunt force injuries.
