Winchester, CA – The motorist who was killed early Thursday morning after colliding with a street sweeper on Domenigoni Parkway in Winchester has been identified.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department identified the deceased driver as Jose Ibarra, 62, of Winchester.
According to CHP, the incident happened when a pickup truck slammed into a street sweeper at about 6:00 a.m. on Domenigoni Parkway, about 300 feet east of Prairie Loop.
Investigators said the Toyota Tacoma slammed into the rear of a 33,000-pound sweeper at an unknown speed. Part of the cab of the Tacoma was sheared off in the incident.
The Tacoma driver, later identified as Jose Ibarra, was pronounced dead at the scene at about 6:26 a.m.

Winchester, CA – At least one person is dead following a two-vehicle crash at an intersection in Winchester early Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal collision occurred on Domenigoni Parkway at Prairie Loop Road at approximately 6:01 a.m. on Thursday.
Preliminary reports indicate the crash involved a red Toyota Tacoma and a street sweeper. Details on how the vehicles were traveling prior to the collision or what led up to the impact were not immediately released.
At least one person was killed in the crash. Authorities requested the coroner to the scene, though the identity of the deceased has not yet been released. It remains unclear whether there were additional injuries.
Emergency crews, including fire personnel and officers from the Menifee Police Department, responded to the scene. All westbound lanes of Domenigoni Parkway were blocked for a time as crews worked the scene and managed traffic, with authorities diverting and turning vehicles around at Prairie Loop Road.
The crash caused significant traffic disruption in the area during the morning commute, with lanes only partially reopened to allow vehicles to squeeze through.
The incident remains under investigation by authorities.
