Camarillo, CA – Two drivers were killed in a tragic collision that took place at an intersection in Ventura County on Wednesday afternoon, according to California Highway Patrol officials.
The incident happened at the Las Posas and Laguna roads intersection in Camarillo just before 1:30 p.m. on March 25.
According to the investigators, a white Ford Expedition was involved in the collision with an Orange Porsche coupe, possibly a 1970s vintage model. The two crashed in the area for reasons still being investigated.
The two vehicles were heavily damaged and the drivers, who were the sole occupants, were trapped in the wreckage.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene and they helped extricate the trapped drivers. Medics performed life-saving measures on the driver of the Porsche but he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The driver of the Ford had critical injuries and medics rushed him to Los Robles Regional Medical Center. The driver was confirmed deceased at the hospital.
The names of the deceased drivers were not released pending notification of the next-of-kin.
It’s unclear whether speed, impairment, or distracted driving contributed to the crash but the CHP is still investigating the circumstances of the incident.
The California Highway Patrol, along with personnel from the Ventura County Fire Department, Gold Coast Medical unit, and Oxnard Fire Department, assisted at the scene.
The accident led to the closure of both directions of Las Posas Road while investigators worked at the scene and firefighters cleared the debris from the crash.
