Tehachapi, CA – A pedestrian was taken to a hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Tehachapi on Wednesday morning.
According to a California Highway Patrol log, the incident took place at around 11:30 a.m. March 25, on Tehachapi Boulevard (SR-202) and Sierra Vista Drive.
Preliminary reports indicate that a person was riding on a wheelchair in the area when they were hit by a vehicle.
CHP and emergency crews arrived shortly after and located the victim suffering from major injuries. Medics transported the victim to a hospital and an update on their condition was not provided.
Drivers were urged to avoid the area as emergency crews worked to clear the scene.
Authorities have not specified whether speed or impairment played any role in the crash. There were no reports of any arrests in connection with the incident.
The California Highway Patrol is currently conducting an investigation to determine what exactly led up to the accident.
