Tucson, AZ – A deadly crash claimed the life of a 47-year-old man in Midtown Tucson early Monday morning, the Tucson Police Department reported.
Omar Del Ra Soto was killed in the incident that took place at East Broadway and South Craycroft Road at about 4:30 a.m. March 9.
According to the TPD, Soto was driving a Honda Civic making a left turn onto westbound Broadway from northbound Craycroft Road on a green light.
The Honda was hit on the driver’s side by a Kia EV6 that had been traveling eastbound on Broadway and failed to stop for a red light at the intersection. The Kia was reportedly speeding in a 35 mph zone.
The Tucson police said Soto was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Paramedics transported the driver of the Kia, who was not identified, to a hospital with minor injuries. Authorities determined that the driver was not impaired and there have been no reports of any arrests.
The Tucson Police Department is still looking into the incident to ascertain the exact cause the collision.
