
San Francisco, CA – A pedestrian was killed, and another person was injured following a crash at an intersection in San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood Thursday night, according to the San Francisco Police Department.
The collision occurred at approximately 10:42 p.m. on Thursday night near the intersection of Broadway and Kearny Street, authorities said.
Preliminary information indicates that a vehicle struck a man who was walking in the area, causing critical injuries. The impact also led to another man, who was riding an electric scooter nearby, falling off the scooter and becoming injured. Images from the scene showed the vehicle coming to rest on the sidewalk against a building, while the scooter was found lying in the roadway close to the crash site.
The pedestrian suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police confirmed. The scooter rider was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries for treatment.
Authorities said the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators following the incident. Officials also noted that alcohol and drugs are not believed to have played a role in the collision.
Emergency crews from the San Francisco Fire Department and police responded to the crash to assist the victims and secure the area.
The crash caused temporary disruptions near the Broadway and Kearny Street intersection while emergency responders and investigators worked at the scene.
