Chicago, IL – One person was killed and another injured in a collision involving multiple vehicles on Chicago’s Northwest Side on Tuesday night, according to the Illinois State Police.
The wreck took place at around 10:24 p.m. March 3, on the Kennedy Expressway near Natoma Avenue.
Investigators reported that three vehicles were involved in the accident in the inbound lanes of the expressway. One of the vehicles was pushed off the roadway by the impact of the crash and it slammed into a pole, before being fully engulfed in flames.
The ISP and Chicago Fire Department responded to the site of the accident and firefighters helped put out the fire while ISP investigated the incident.
According to the firefighters, one person was declaredd deceased at the scene while a second party was taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
Police have not yet released the identities of the involved parties.
The accident caused a closure of all lanes of the Kennedy Expressway as authorities investigated and cleared the scene.
An investigation into the deadly collision is being conducted by the Illinois State Police.
