Gorst, WA – A bicycle rider was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle near Gorst on Sunday afternoon, according to a report by the Washington State Patrol.
The collision occurred on Highway 3, at approximately 1:30 p.m. on March 1, as per the WSP troopers.
Investigations into the incident reveal that a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado was southbound on Highway 3 when a bicyclist, also headed south, indicated that he would continue traveling southbound. The Chevrolet tried to overtake the rider but the car collided with the front of the bike.
The Washington State Patrol and emergency crews arrived shortly after and attended to the injured bicyclist.
The rider, a 61-year-old Bremerton man, was wearing a helmet and was transported to Tacoma General Hospital for treatment. There was no update on the condition of the injured rider.
The operator of the Chevrolet, a 33-year-old man from Bellfair, was not hurt. However, he was charged with improper turn following the accident.
No further details on the crash were released. The Washington State Patrol is currently looking into the incident to establish the cause of the collision.
