Andrews County, TX – One person was killed following a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 176 in Andrews County on Friday evening, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The fatal collision occurred along SH 176 in Andrews County. Authorities have not released the exact time of the crash.
Preliminary reports indicate that a 2021 Ford F-350, driven by 28-year-old Jason Carreon of Odessa, was traveling southeast on SH 176 when the vehicle’s front left tire reportedly blew out.
The sudden tire failure caused the driver to lose control, and the pickup crossed into the northwest lane of the highway.
The truck then collided with an oncoming vehicle, triggering a rollover.
Carreon was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, identified as 51-year-old Marco Gonzalez-Terrones, was reportedly not injured in the crash.
No arrests have been announced. The cause of the Andrews County crash remains under investigation as officials continue to review the circumstances surrounding the tire blowout and subsequent loss of control.
Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene and are leading the ongoing investigation.
