The fatal San Marcos crash occurred in the 180 block of North Pacific Street at approximately 8:34 p.m. on February 21, 2026.
Authorities reported that 62-year-old Carey Dean Faust was standing at the rear of his parked vehicle along the street when he was hit by a passing vehicle for reasons that remain unclear. The collision happened in the roadway area, striking Faust while he was outside his vehicle.
Faust sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Emergency services were notified through a 911 call, and responding law enforcement personnel arrived at the scene shortly after. Despite their efforts, Faust was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 8:39 p.m. Authorities confirmed that his next of kin had been notified. No information regarding arrests has been released.
