A preliminary report indicates that a GMC Sierra truck was traveling southbound on Broadway when it drifted into the northbound side and collided with an oncoming Hyundai Tucson
Eureka, CA – Two people were hospitalized after a multi-vehicle collision on Broadway in Eureka on Tuesday afternoon.
According to reports from the Eureka Police Department, the collision happened in the 4200 block of Broadway north of Herrick Avenue shortly before 12:41 p.m. February 17.
A preliminary report indicates that a GMC Sierra truck was traveling southbound on Broadway when it drifted into the northbound side and collided with an oncoming Hyundai Tucson.
The Humboldt Bay Fire crews responded to the scene and extricated the two drivers from the involved vehicles.
The woman driving the Hyundai was transported by ambulance to a hospital with major injuries. The other driver, also an adult woman, was taken to hospital for evaluation.
Shortly before the collision, authorities received reports of a GMC truck being driven recklessly through Broadway. Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol was not suspected to have been a factor in the incident.
Both northbound lanes of Broadway were shut down as authorities cleared debris and removed the involved vehicles from the scene.
Authorities are still conducting an investigation into the incident.
