Eureka, CA – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle on Broadway in Eureka on Friday afternoon, according to the Eureka Police Department.
At about 4:30 p.m. February 13, authorities responded to reports of an accident between West 14th Street and West Wabash Avenue.
A cabover RV reportedly struck a pedestrian walking a dog along Broadway. Authorities did not specify how and why the pedestrian was hit by the RV.
Eureka police and emergency personnel responded to the scene and located the involved parties. Authorities confirmed that the accident was fatal.
The identities of the involved driver and the pedestrian were yet to be released.
According to the Eureka police, the dog ran away from the scene after the accident and hadn’t been located.
Both directions of Broadway were temporarily shut down for hours as emergency personnel worked at the scene and police investigated the incident.
No further details on the crash have been released. The accident remained under investigation by the Eureka Police Department.
