Hollister, CA – Two people were hospitalized after a multi-vehicle collision that happened Friday evening in Hollister.
According to the California Highway Patrol logs, the pileup took place around 6:17 p.m. on westbound State Route 156, just east of Fairview Road.
Four vehicles, including a white Dodge van and a gray 4-door Lexus, were involved in the crash.

One of the patients was taken to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital with the complaint of pain to the back, head, and right shoulder. The other patient was also transported to the same hospital with an injury to the lip.
Details about the cause of the accident were not available, but an investigation is ongoing.
Over recent years, Hollister’s serious car collision counts have shown moderate year-to-year variation rather than a strong upward or downward trend. According to OTS fatal and injury collision rankings, Hollister reported 220 victims killed or injured in 2021, increased to 234 victims in 2022, and then declined to 199 victims in 2023. This pattern suggests fluctuating serious crash involvement, with a slight peak in 2022 followed by a reduction in 2023. Alcohol-involved collision victims remained relatively low but varied with local enforcement and exposure, while subcategories such as speed-related and nighttime collisions followed similar modest fluctuations. Vulnerable road users — pedestrians and bicyclists — consistently represented smaller portions of the total, though bicyclist victim counts trended upward between 2021 and 2023.
