Pedestrian crash involvement in Yolo County has increased modestly from 2021 through 2023. According to OTS data, the county had 40 pedestrians killed or injured in fatal and injury collisions in 2021, rising to 59 in 2022, and reaching 69 in 2023, reflecting a year-over-year growth in serious pedestrian collisions. The county’s statewide ranking in pedestrian victims moved from mid-range to 8th highest among California counties in 2023, indicating increased relative pedestrian risk compared with other regions. Notably, counts of pedestrians under age 15 and older adults (65+) both grew slightly from 2021 to 2023, suggesting that vulnerable age groups contributed to the upward trend. Though total collision counts and contributing factors such as alcohol involvement and speed-related crashes also varied over these years, the consistent rise in pedestrian victims underscores heightened pedestrian exposure or risk. These changes highlight ongoing pedestrian safety concerns in Yolo County and support targeted outreach and engineering interventions.
