In 2021, the city reported 202 fatal and injury victims, ranking 42nd among comparable California cities. In 2022, that count increased to 224 victims, and the ranking remained similar, reflecting a short-term rise in serious collisions. Alcohol-involved collisions decreased slightly from 31 to 27 victims between 2021 and 2023, and the number of DUI arrests more than doubled to 340 in 2023, which may reflect enhanced enforcement efforts. Motorcycle-related serious collisions increased from 9 to 15 victims, while pedestrian and bicyclist injury counts were relatively stable.
