Wasco, CA – The man who was killed when he was involved in a two-vehicle collision on State Route 46 in Wasco last week on Saturday has been identified.

According to the Kern County Coroner’s Office, 18-year-old Alexis Zamora of Bakersfield, was the victim of the accident that took place just before 1:15 p.m. January 17, on SR 46 near Smith Avenue.

Investigations into the incident reveal that Zamora was driving a 2003 Toyota Camry eastbound on SR 46 when he drifted across the centerline and collided head-on with an oncoming 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 60-year-old man.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, Zamora was declared deceased at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet and his passenger were transported to a hospital with moderate to major injuries.

Alcohol and drugs were not suspected to have played a role in the incident, according to the BPD.

The cause of the collision remained under investigation.
