Oroville, CA — A late-night crash on Highway 70 near Palermo Road prompted a road closure and a brief manhunt south of Oroville on Thursday night, authorities said.

Officers reported that one person was trapped inside a vehicle and suffered major injuries as a result of the crash.
Following the collision, authorities launched a search of a nearby field for two individuals believed to have fled the scene, officials said.
Deputies from the Butte County Sheriff’s Office assisted the California Highway Patrol during the response.
It was not immediately clear how long Highway 70 remained closed or whether the individuals sought by authorities were located.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional details are expected to be released as they become available.
