A preliminary investigation reveals that a man was driving a pickup truck on Sierra Highway when the vehicle’s brakes failed and the driver lost control

Santa Clarita, CA – At least one person was airlifted to a hospital with major injuries after a single-vehicle rollover accident on Sierra Highway in Santa Clarita on Thursday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near Davenport Road shortly before 4 p.m. January 15.
A preliminary investigation reveals that a man was driving a pickup truck on Sierra Highway when the vehicle’s brakes failed and the driver lost control. The truck went off the roadway, drove through a fence, and overturned into a ditch.
When the CHP and Los Angeles County Fire Department crews arrived at the scene, they found the truck upside down in the ditch and the driver was trapped beneath.
The driver was pulled out of the wreckage and was flown to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital with critical injuries. Identifying details on the driver were not immediately released.
The investigation into the Santa Clarita accident is being handled by the California Highway Patrol.
