Lancaster, CA – Authorities have identified a 21-year-old man who was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Lancaster after his car struck a utility pole.
The driver was Emmanuel Juarez, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The collision was reported shortly before 6:55 a.m. Thursday, January 1, on 170th Street East, north of Avenue P.
California Highway Patrol officers said the driver was traveling in a 2004 Chevrolet when the vehicle left the roadway for unknown reasons and slammed into a utility pole.
Paramedics responded and pronounced Juarez dead upon arrival. His city of residence was not disclosed.
CHP officials stated that Juarez was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and that alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor. No other vehicles were involved.
The crash remains under investigation.
