Bakersfield, CA – One person was seriously injured in a crash involving a single vehicle on Breckenridge Road in Bakersfield on New Year’s Day.
The California Highway Patrol said the crash was reported shortly after noon on January 1, just east of Comanche Road.
According to investigators, a vehicle was traveling on Breckenridge Road when it drifted off the side of the roadway and overturned down an embankment. The vehicle came to a rest on its roof nearly 400 feet down the embankment.
CHP and firefighters responded to the scene and helped retrieve the vehicle.
Medics transported one person to a hospital with major injuries. The identity of the patient and whether they were a passenger or the driver were not specified.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident to determine its cause.
