Adelanto, CA – Authorities are investigating a deadly fiery crash that occurred near Adelanto on Sunday afternoon.
According to the San Bernardino County Fire Department, crews responded at around 12:11 p.m. December 28, to the incident on southbound Highway 395, just south of Shadow Mountain Road.
At the scene, firefighters found a Land Rover SUV fully engulfed in flames. Two vehicles were involved in the accident but it’s cause was not immediately established.
Two Good Samaritans stopped at the scene and helped pull out a man from the burning vehicle. Firefighters arrived shortly after and helped put out the fire.
Medics attended to the patients involved in the accident. One person was declared deceased at the scene while two others were in critical condition.
The two patients were flown to a hospital for treatment. Three other parties were transported by ambulances and were being treated for less severe injuries.
The southbound and northbound lanes of the highway were shut down as authorities investigated the incident.
There were no further details on the accident. The California Highway Patrol troopers were at the scene and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
