Hacienda Heights, CA – The pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle at an intersction in Hacienda Heights Sunday evening has been identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office as Hongying Weng, 73.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident was reported at about 5:20 p.m. December 21, at the intersection of Gale and Valencia avenues.
For unknown reasons, a vehicle struck Weng in the area. The CHP and the Los Angeles County Fire Department crews responded to the scene a few minutes after the accident.
Medics declared Weng deceased at the site of the crash.
It’s unclear whether the driver of the involved vehicle stayed at the scene after the accident. At this time, police have not reported any arrests in connection with the crash.
The intersection was shut down as emergency personnel worked at the scene. The California Highway Patrol is handling the investigation.
