Tracy, CA. – At least one person died in a head-on collision that happened Friday evening in Tracy, the California Highway Patrol reported.

A silver Honda Fit and a UPS truck were involved in a head-on collision.
Firefighters responded to the scene and blocked Grant Line Road between N Midway Road and I-580.
The firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free the driver and a passenger of one of the cars.
At least one person died in the accident, CHP reported.
It was unclear if any other person was hurt.
Authorities are investigating to determine the cause of the crash.

While the total number of incidents improved, the state as a whole continues to address a road safety crisis, with unsafe speed often accounting for nearly a third of all crashes statewide.
