Camarillo is one of the largest cities in Ventura County both by size and population. With the ever expanding population, the city has also seen a spike in the number of traffic collisions in the recent past. According to California Office of Traffic Safety reports, in 2023 Camarillo recorded 255 injuries and fatalities due to traffic-related accidents and this was slightly higher than 2022 when 251 people were victims of road accidents. Speeding continues to be a risk on Camarillo roads as seen in the OTS records with almost 10% of all accidents in 2023 being caused by speed. Other major causes included drunk-driving, unsafe passing and failure to yield at intersections. Highway 101 and Pacific Coast Highway are notably some of the highways regarded as dangerous in Ventura County due to the frequency of accidents occurring yearly. These accidents are mostly due to high volume of traffic. However, improving driver discipline can be a major boost in improving road safety on major roadways in Ventura County.
