Benicia, CA. – The man who died in a single-car crash that took place Monday morning in Benicia has been identified by the Solano County Coroner’s Office as Jacob Dortch, 23.
According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 7:45 a.m. on December 8, 2025, on the Interstate 780 near the on-ramp to Southampton Road.
Dorth was reportedly driving a silver Toyota Rav4 in the westbound lanes of the interstate when he lost control, for undetermined reasons, and slammed into the guardrail.
The CHP reported that Dorth, who was alone in the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Authorities said unsafe speed may have played a role in the accident, which remains under investigation.
