Los Angeles, CA. – Two Los Angeles Police Department officers were injured early Thursday morning when their patrol cars collided while responding to a call in Downtown Los Angeles.

The crash happened around 2:05 a.m. at Maple Avenue and Olympic Boulevard.

Two units were responding to offer backup in a stolen vehicle investigation when the collision occurred, police said.

Los Angeles Fire Department crews treated the two injured officers, then transported them to the hospital with complaints of pain. Both officers were listed in fair condition following the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
