San Bernardino County, CA – One person was killed after a collision involving a motorcycle and a school bus early Monday morning on Interstate 10 in Bloomington, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The crash was reported around 5:57 a.m. on the westbound I-10, east of Cedar Avenue.

CHP’s preliminary information indicates a yellow school bus and a motorcycle were involved in the crash, leaving the motorcycle down in the middle lanes. A passing driver in a dark gray Toyota Tacoma stopped to shield the motorcyclist from oncoming vehicles before authorities arrived.

The motorcyclist was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center with major injuries and no pulse at the time of transport. The rider was later pronounced deceased.

The school bus had pulled over to the right shoulder; no students or occupants on the bus were reported injured.

Lanes were closed for several hours during the on-scene investigation and while CHP units documented evidence and cleared the wreckage

According to the CHP, one witness captured video footage of the collision.

The crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
