San Rafael, CA. – A pedestrian crash left one person dead Wednesday morning in downtown San Rafael, authorities reported.

The collision occurred around 10:26 a.m. at Second Street and A Street, where officers found the victim unresponsive in the roadway.

Despite efforts by first responders, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the victim was crossing Second Street in a marked crosswalk when the crash occurred.

The driver involved stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police.

Drugs and alcohol were not contributing factors.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
