Phoenix, AZ. – Two people lost their lives and two others were hurt following a crash at a north Phoenix intersection on Wednesday afternoon

Police said the collision happened around 2:15 p.m. at 35th Avenue and Union Hills Drive.

An SUV flipped onto its roof after colliding with another vehicle that sustained heavy passenger-side damage.

Two people were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two others, including a woman in critical condition, were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Detectives are working to determine the events that led to the collision.

The intersection remained closed for hours as crews cleared the scene and gathered evidence.
