Truck Driver Dies After Lose Tire Hits Windshield on 680 Freeway in Alamo

Alamo, CA. – A driver died after a loose tire from another vehicle hit his windshield Thursday afternoon on 680 Freeway in Alamo, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The collision occurred around 1:38 p.m. just north of the Stone Valley Road off-ramp.

According to CHP, a blue van traveling northbound on the freeway lost its rear right tire which bounced across the center divide and struck the windshield of a Toyota Tundra heading southbound.

The driver of the truck died in the collision.

Multiple freeway lanes and the Stone Valley Road on-ramp were closed for investigation.
